Massage Therapy:
More Than Relaxation

Massage Therapy for Back Pain Relief in Grants Pass

Many of the patients who visit our Grants Pass clinic realize that massages can be relaxing, letting you forget about life's little stressors for just a moment. Not very many realize that massage therapy can provide numerous other benefits as well.

Varied studies have found that partaking in massage therapy can provide you with pain relief that lasts for months, if not longer. For example, in one piece of research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, experts in Seattle examined over four hundred individuals who were dealing with persistent lower back pain. A number of them were instructed to participate in structural massage, others received relaxation massages, and the remainder of the people received usual care.

The individuals who participated in massage therapy were less bothered by their symptoms when questioned at the 10, 26, and 52-week marks. They also discovered that the benefits were experienced for six months or even longer. So, if you’re experiencing pain in your lower back, or other areas of your body, massage therapy may be able to offer some much needed relief.

If you have a severe medical issue that keeps you in a continued state of pain, massage therapy can possibly help relieve your discomfort. As reported by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), massage therapy has been found to safely decrease pain in addition to some other symptoms commonly experienced by people diagnosed with cancer, fibromyalgia, diabetes, asthma, and HIV/AIDS, just to name a few.

In addition to helping you physically, when you get a massage at our Grants Pass practice, you could also cut down on your risk of depression, anxiety, and other all-too-common mental health conditions. When your body feels healthy, so does your mind, which means better moods and a happier disposition.

If you’re ready to experience these benefits and more, call ChiroHealth Chiropractic at (541) 955-7246 in Grants Pass to schedule your first massage therapy session today!
